Water Sanitation

Clean water is something that we take for granted in the developed world. It isn’t the “sexiest” issue in the world, but it is one of the most vital. Our research clearly identifies that there are life-changing health ramifications associated with providing water to a community that effects disease, hunger and poverty. EMF has already identified Sunderbans as one of the areas that meets our objectives. Further research is being undertaken to identify which other States have the greatest need for water sanitation technology.

Solar Energy

Energy costs have risen rapidly over the last few years. The biggest impact of these rises are felt on the poor – who barely have access to electricity and where they do get connected to the grid, this is illegally undertaken and at times lives are lost as a result.

India has particular infrastructure issues and as a result is unable to produce enough electricity to for its own population of 1.2bilion people and its industry. Power cuts and rationing is a reality. The Planning Commission of India has identified that 600 million people have no connection to electricity at all.

Hard to Reach Groups Focus on Muslim Women

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) commissioned EMF to carry out a three- month England-based research project to further knowledge of the needs, views, behavioural patterns of Muslim women towards food. The research sought to achieve a better understanding of this consumer group, while developing adequate methods of engagement.

Improving Diversity in the Physical Education Teaching Workforce

EMF in partnership with the Association for Physical Education (afPE) has carried out research exploring the low percentage of recruits from minority ethnic backgrounds into Physical Education Initial Teacher Training in Britain. Funded by Capacitybuilders Improving Reach Programme, the project has sought to raise awareness of this issue, improve recruitment intake from under-represented groups, while developing the sector’s capacity through EMF’s network as well as among organisations providing careers advice.
