Anne Page is Honorary Consul for South Africa in the East of England and the special representative in the UK of the University of Fort Hare, South Africa, alma mater of Nelson Mandela.

She is a member of the Royal African and the Royal Commonwealth Societies; and is active in educational and community work in London, and in Suffolk, where she lives. 

Previously, she was a non-executive director of the University College Hospital London NHS Trust; and for five years, she was chair of the London Awards Committee for the former National Lottery Community Fund.

Professionally, Anne worked as a consultant to the UK Government on Education, Culture, International Development and local government.  She was Chief Executive of the London Research Centre and head of education for the London Docklands Development Corporation. Earlier she worked for the Parliamentary Labour Party, and as a journalist in South Africa, France and the UK.

She was an Islington Councillor from 1974 to 1983, and a Member of the Inner London Education Authority from 1974 to 1978.  

Anne graduated from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She is married to the writer, Bruce Page
