FIRST has been recognising the achievements of top business people in the UK since the millennium for their commercial success but with social responsibility. This year Sajid David MP from the Business and Innovations Dept presented the awards after giving a short talk on how capitalism has proved to be the best system yet for a prosperous world.
A champagne reception was held at the splendid Lancaster House by the Chairman Rupert Goodman, together with Lord Woolf and Lord Cormack.
The awards went to Ana Botin DBE the Chairman of Santander Group for turning three building societies into Britian’s most successful banks Jochen Zeitz of the Zeitz Foundation for intercultural ecosphere safety Ivy Wroe of Resin Surfaces Ltd for manufacturing greener products John Vincent and Henry Dimbleby of the Leon Restaurants, a naturally healthy fast food chain.
The event was attended by business leaders, high commissioners and ambassadors, politicians, judges and journalists. I was invited as the chairman of the Ethnic Minority Foundation.
